Dieselpoint is a Chicago company that develops cutting-edge enterprise search and navigation technology.
Requirements:
Masters in Computer Science, PhD preferred
2+ years non-academic software development experience
Solid knowledge and experience in information retrieval and/or text mining technologies
Solid knowledge of Java and J2EE technologies Individuals who fill this role will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of search-engine-related technologies.
Information retrieval algorithms for relevance ranking. Develop metrics for measuring relevancy and implement benchmarks. Research, develop, and test new algorithms for discovering a user’s intent.
Text mining and computational linguistics. Research and develop new ways of understanding the structure of text, and how it can improve search results.
Data mining, machine learning, and recommender systems. Develop new ways to exploit the data available in logs and e-commerce system, use it to understand user behavior, and develop new methods of suggesting items of interest.
Spell correction. Research, measure and develop new algorithms for correcting user spelling errors.
Content analysis. Understand the structure of documents and data, and develop lexers, tokenizers, and analyzers for exploiting it.
Classification/categorization. Develop software for classifying documents and data and for performing entity extraction.
Distributed search/distributed algorithms. Develop and implement ways of distributing the computational load when processing very large databases (VLDB).
Faceted navigation. Develop user interfaces to improve the search experience by exploiting the structure inherent in data items. Successful candidates will have experience in more than one, and ideally several, of the areas above.
