Summary: We are seeking a Statistician who will apply data discovery techniques to large sets of feature, process and purchasing trend data for fortune 100 companies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Investigate appropriate methods and computational algorithms.
Develop methods for modeling and analyzing quantitative data collected during client engagements.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
The Statistician, Risk Analytics will report to the International Manager of Risk Analytics, and be dedicated to the conception, design, implementation of data models and reports that predict and prevent prohibited activity on eBay’s website, including fraud and other violations of eBay’s user agreement. 1. Use statistical techniques to design and code predictive models that detect fraud, etc. Iteratively test, refine, and improve the models. In this role, the Statistician will be required to be expert in building predictive, statistically valid models.

3. Manage the day-to-day aspects of systems (SAS, data sources, workflow systems, etc.) to ensure that the modeling and production infrastructure is optimized. Quantum Leap Innovations is looking for a Software Scientist to join our team and take on the following responsibilities:
Contribute towards development of Quantum Leap's technology in distributed data-mining.
Support deployment of data-mining technology in enterprise and government applications.
Publish scientific papers based on the conducted research. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or related field.
Strong conceptual understanding of a range of data mining technologies, including neural networks, decision trees, support vector machines, genetic programming etc.
Proven ability in delivering data mining solutions for real world applications.
Algorithm design experience and familiarity with probabilistic machine learning methods.
Passion to create and implement new distributed data mining algorithms/architectures that can deal with scalability, missing data, "needles in haystacks", extrapolation and other critical, large scale issues.
Proficiency in Java/C++ and applications development experience under Windows/Linux environments.
Experience with SQL, Oracle and other relational data base methodologies would be a plus.
Self-motivated, team player.
Strong communication and inter-personal skills.
Must be willing to relocate to the Delaware region.

SUMMARY: We are seeking a Statistician who will apply data discovery techniques to large sets of feature, process and purchasing trend data for fortune 100 companies. The analysis will lead to the development of analytical modules that will define relationships which optimize the cost of a family of similar parts.

Akoya is a venture funded, business intelligence software company that delivers packaged analytical applications to large manufactures. The Akoya software enables its customers to better understand their internal information and gain a competitive advantage in their markets. Akoya has been developed as a joint commercialization effort between Arch Development (a Chicago-based venture capital firm), Caterpillar, Inc., and the management team. Akoya's initial product, CostPoint, is a web-based, decision support tool for cost management of direct material parts. The tool was initially developed and tested at Caterpillar and includes world-class, business intelligence technology from one of the premiere Midwest universities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Investigate appropriate methods and computational algorithms.
Develop methods for modeling and analyzing quantitative data collected during client engagements.
Develop and implement techniques for visualizing and presenting above data and analysis results.
Develop and implement research approaches and methodologies for client's engagements.
Evolve and validate new and existing research tools.
Apply quantitative and relatively advanced statistical concepts to large datasets.
Design and implement software for the analytic models.
Document methodologies, models and software.
Keep abreast of recent statistical and data mining innovations and trends developed at leading universities.
Publish research for periodicals or press.
Create data extraction and cleaning tools.
Interact with Akoya's senior management team (COO, CTO, and CSO) on a regular basis. May prepare weekly status report for management highlighting accomplishments and progress as well as issues and concerns that may jeopardize project schedules.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of multi-dimensional visualization techniques.
Experience with large data analysis project. Experience working with large data sets.
Exposure to predictive models preferred.
Proficiency with mathematical and statistical packages such as R(S+), SAS, Stata, Matlab, or SPSS a must.
Experience using non-commercial data discovery tools developed at universities.
Experience with Java, J2EE, SQL a plus.
Excellent computer programming and data manipulation skills. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in statistics or related field or BS degree statistics or related field and 3-5 years experience.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or multiple facets of a large project. Ability to meet stated deadlines.
Past experience in the fields of procurement and engineering is highly desired.
Experience in statistical analysis, data discovery, data mining, and statistical modeling with large data sets.
Proven ability to turn research into working software algorithms. This position description is intended to be dynamic and subject to change.
