Amazon.com is seeking statistical and data mining analysts at variouslevels. We are interested in recent graduates (at BS, MS, or PhDlevels), and candidates with significant experience. There are anumber of potential positions (particularly at the more junior level),both in the data mining group and the experimental design groups.If you know of strong students who are about to graduate, please letthem know of our positions. Summer internships are also possible. (Read the following as appropriate to your level. A recent BS willnot have many of these skills). In the Data Mining group we are looking for candidates who are strongin S-Plus, SAS, or statistical programming in C or C++. Prowess inexploratory data analysis, sampling, transformations and manipulation,SQL, experimental design, multivariate statistics, and data miningtool suites (suitable examples might include Clementine, Datasage,Enterprise Miner, Intelligent Miner, Neovista, or SPSSNeural Connections) will significantly increase likelihood ofacceptance. Focus on satisfaction of both external and internalcustomers, ability to work as part of a dynamic and highly visibleteam, and enthusiasm for teaching statistical concepts tononstatisticians are absolutely required. B.S. in stronglyquantitative field is required. Compensation includes stock options.
